She is survived by two sons, Joe Hicks and his wife, Sandra of Malvern, and Larry Hicks of North Little Rock; by a step-daughter, Alma Walker of Malvern; by a brother, Glenn Cunningham of Apple Valley, California; by a sister, Lola Kidd of Malvern; by seven grandchildren, Michelle Carnahan, Rachel Inmon, Lawrence (Tripp) Hicks, III, Krista Sebourn, Jace Helms, Joseph Hicks, Jr., Diane Austin; by three step-grandchildren; by six great-grandchildren, and by three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a Paul Harris Fellow, awarded by the Rotary Club for his work in the Shots for Tots Program, which helped with immunizing pre-schoolers.
Dewey made several dental missionary trips to Mexico with a group called Christian Hands in Action.
Reared and receiving his early education in Elaine, Arkansas, he graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1968.
As a mechanical engineer, he began a 35 year career with Reynolds Metals Company, working at the Patterson Plant in Arkadelphia for 18 years, then relocating to Massena, New York in 1986, from where he retired. age 91 of Malvern, died Monday, January 19, 2015 in the Baptist Hospital in Malvern.
He graduated high school at Central High in Little Rock.
He retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 27 years as conductor.
He has been an active fill-in preacher and Sunday School teacher for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Susie Harvey Adams, to whom he was married on June 16, 1972 in Malvern; by his daughters, Heather Adams Mc Kim (Mike) of Bryant, Ashley Adams Tackett (Eddie) of Bauxite, and Lindsay Adams Robinson (Raymond) of Alexander; his mother, Dora Adams of Bauxite; a brother, Gary Adams of Memphis; three sisters, Suzanna Osburn ( Charles) of Bigelow, Karan Stewart (Howard) of North Little Rock, and Debra Hanson (Chet) of Bauxite; eight grandchildren, Aaron and Ashlin Kizer, Trey Mc Kim, Braden and Peyton Tackett, Austin, Dalis, and Anniston Robinson. Ainsworth, age 90 of Malvern, died Friday, September 25, 2015 in the Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern.
She was born Pansy Juanita Oden in Hammon, Oklahoma on August 12, 1925 to the late Ollie Oden and Myrtle Britt Oden.
Lawrence and his wife moved to Hot Springs in 2006. He was born on January 1, 1924 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Dewey Edward Allen, Sr. His birth mother died when Dewey was very young, and he was reared by his step-mother, Margaret Laxton Allen.
