He has lived in this forgotten village, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and pine forests, in a valley eight miles from the historical city of Viseu, since he was six.
His wife, Maria Mercinda, also in her 80s, was born in number 17, just down the cobbled path built by the Romans.
